Assorted shells from travels.
Found on beach in Calahonde, Spain, 2012
Coral from the Dead Sea. My friend in elementary school brought me this as a souvenir from her trip.
Shells from Napatree Point. When I moved here, I was so excited to see seashells. I used to live near a lake with few shells.
Seagull Figurine. This sits on my desk to remind me the beach is right around the corner any time I need to see the ocean.
Assorted beachy magnets. The shark reminds me of the time my visiting friends and family had to get out of the water because of an “unidentified fin” at Misquamicut Beach.
Family photos from a rare beach trip to the rockiest beach I’ve ever seen. No sand – just rocks (we stayed on the grass.)
My favorite beach towel.
My favorite beach towel. It’s at least 15 years old but I still take it to the beach.
The signs for our Pop Up Museum (thank you to popupmuseum.org!)
As the summer rapidly speeds by and the sun starts setting a little earlier every evening, August seems like a good time to reflect on memories from the beach. Westerly, RI, has gorgeous beaches and our population swells during the summer, so the beach is a common theme in every day life here. So in Westerly, in August, the beach seems like an obvious choice for our Pop-Up Museum theme. We planned the Pop-Up for 5 pm so beachgoers could come by afterward (but forgot that the popular Blues on the Beach concert series was happening the same night!)
We had some neat beachy items at our museum, check out the photos!
